Are you scared of flying?
You’re not alone. Fear of flying, also called Aviophobia, is real. According to the Washington Post, four out of five Americans fear flying, while 2.5% have significant distress.
Hearing the latest stats on airplane safety is not enough for those who suffer from anxiety. If people could rationalize the anxiety out of their bodies, they would have already done so.
Simply yelling at the person and saying he’s irrational doesn’t work either.
Approaching the challenge with sensitivity, respect, and a step-by-step approach helps people manage it.
People with anxiety deserve our patience and care. So do people like us and people who hold different views (vaccines anyone!).
What would happen if we approached everyone with the same level of respect?
Thanks for caring!
