To build muscle, we have to lift heavyweights. The weights must be heavy enough to break our muscle fibers down so our body can then create new, stronger muscles.
However, lifting weights is not enough. Large muscles need a week to recover and rebuild fully. If we don’t get enough rest and nutrients, our bodies will break down.
Personal growth is the same. To truly grow and learn, we have to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations. But if we do it too often, we'll burn ourselves out without time to rest and recharge.
