300 years ago, the greatest violinist of the time, Tartini, was shocked to find another who’s playing made him feel like a child.
In a dream, the devil visited him and played the violin with such frightening emotion that Tartini felt “enraptured, transported, enchanted: my breath failed me.” After waking up, Tartini immediately grabbed his violin and tried to recapture a glimmer of his dream, but failed, saying it was “so inferior to what I had heard.” Still, his Devils Sonata was his favorite and has become a fan favorite, with its haunting melodies and diabolical technical feats. How curious are you to hear it? What if I simply told you there’s a haunting piece of music composed by the great Italian violinist Tartini? How might you wrap your next brilliant idea in a story? Hear the haunting melody with an image of the devil playing to Tartini here and watch a live performance here. Thanks for caring! With gratitude, Anwell Tsai Comments are closed.
