Is playing the piano actually hard?

11/23/2021

The piano is a challenging instrument to learn. You need to master 88 keys, 50 plus conventional scales, and coordinate the left and right hands.

Or is it?

The piano keys follow the same series of 12 notes over and over. The physical distance between these keys is constant. So instead of learning 88 keys, you only need to know 12.

Though there are over 50 scales, you only need to focus on one, the key of C. Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and a host of other composers wrote masterpieces in the key of C major. So now, you only need to learn one scale and eight notes.

Though coordinating two hands is difficult, many beautiful pieces need minimal left-hand movement. The left hand slowly cycles through the same few chords.

To master the piano is tough. However, learning to play something fun is much easier once you break down the essential parts.

How might you break down the essential parts of that crucial project you’re working on?

Thanks for caring!

With gratitude,

Anwell
