Should you board a plane last?

1/16/2019

Taking a 20+ hour flight from Boston to Taipei, Taiwan is brutal. Even with the new luxury jets, comfy seats, and in-flight entertainment, you’re pretty much stuck in a tiny space.

Passengers lined up 45 min early.

Why?

Most didn’t have many carry-ons.

Most didn’t want to be in the plane any longer than they have to.

The airlines sold them on the notion that going on the airplane first has status. First class please.

The airlines sold them on the notion that going on the airplane second, gives you bragging rights over the next group.

And so it goes.

Me?

I prefer to wait until the very end of the line gets through and enjoy the freedom and open spaces of the airport. To minimize the time stuck in a tiny space. To avoid standing in line for 45 min.

What other situations do we follow the crowd and unnecessarily wait in line?

Thanks for caring!

with gratitude,

Anwell Tsai
