Stand out by just being you.

I love Dr. Seuss’ quote “Why fit in when you were born to stand out.”

It can be scary to like different things, to voice different views, to act differently, to be different. We’ve been conditioned to go with the crowd and fit-in since we were little kids.

When was the last time someone praised you for having a worldview different from their own?

So how do we change this?

Lets first begin by recognizing that standing out is hard. Very hard. If it was easy, everyone would have done it already.

Next, we need to surround ourselves with a supportive environment, where we can experiment and test the waters. Step by step.

Until we realize that we can’t help but stand out. That it’s our own unique experiences and ideas that make us human.

And that it’s our humanity and authenticity that moves people.

Because the only thing scarier than standing out, is fitting in and not sharing ourselves fully, for the rest of our life.
