Update meetings

Have you ever been to an update meeting?  Led one?

If the goal of the meeting is to update everyone on the status of a project, cancel the meeting.  It’s more effective and efficient to send everyone an email with all the details. Your coworkers will love you for it.

If the goal is to take people on a journey with challenges, surprises, and wins, hold a meeting.  It’s worth the energy to get people excited and moving together towards a common goal.
