Why is the grass is always greener on the other side?

10/26/2021

A famous saying is, “the grass is always greener on the other side.” As a result, people become restless with their current situation and often seek better opportunities.

This phenomenon happens at work, in relationships, and in our social lives. Unfortunately, social media is accelerating the fear of missing out.

But is the grass greener?

It turns out we view our grass at a 90-degree angle, while we view our neighbors at a 45-degree angle. The shallower angle creates an illusion that their grass is greener.

This illusion assumes both lawns are equal. Lawns are rarely equal. Some lawns have more water, sun, and fertilizer.

So the real question is, how might you confirm whether the grass is truly greener? Though opportunities in your lives look enticing, are they better?

Thanks for caring!

With gratitude,

Anwell
